At a glance
- Two products with silver and golden effects.
- A transparent-core construction, distinct from black-core papers.
- Weight cannot be used to infer thickness.
A different construction from classic cardstock
Silver and Golden have a transparent core and metallic-effect faces. Compare them using their own specifications without assigning the properties of matte Black Core paper.
A heavy media can be thinner than a lighter paper. This is why weight and thickness must remain separate columns when checking a printer’s limits.
Prepare artwork for a reflective background
The media colour affects the visible result. A light area in your file does not necessarily become opaque white: a typical home inkjet printer does not lay down a white undercoat.
Compare faces, fine text and lightly inked areas on a sheet. Silver or golden tones beneath the colours cannot be judged from a screen alone.
Check the full process
Before testing, compare size, thickness, weight and ink with the limits of your chosen path. After printing, check drying, any registration-mark reading and the edges after cutting. A visual simulation cannot replace these steps.
- Select the exact Silver or Golden product when reading specifications.
- Validate one sheet before preparing a batch.
- Inspect a cut double-sided card under your usual light.

Questions about this guide
Are these papers Black Core?
No. Their transparent core distinguishes them from black-core products. The finish name does not replace the construction description.
Will white areas in my file be white on the sheet?
Without white ink, an unprinted area reveals the media beneath. Check a sheet before choosing your artwork.
