At a glance
- Start with the driver and manual for your exact model.
- Media type affects ink deposition among other things.
- Change one parameter at a time and keep the dry result.
Set size, scale and paper source
Choose the same size in the document, PDF reader and driver. For actual-size cards, keep 100% and disable automatic fitting. Borderless mode can enlarge content: do not use it to fix a margin without checking scale.
Select the path actually loaded. Thick-paper or manual-feed options do not permit exceeding media limits. The driver must follow the manual’s physical procedure, not replace it.
Choose media type and quality
A media-type name can affect ink load, passes or drying. Do not automatically select the glossiest option: start from the manufacturer’s documented advice for the permitted media family.
Maximum quality does not automatically improve results. Too much ink can worsen smudging on unsuitable coatings. If the ink/paper combination is permitted, compare two settings using the same small image and let them dry before judging.
Keep a settings record
Record system, driver version, model, paper, path, quality and colour management. A recipe from another system cannot transfer without checking. No setting presented here is a certified internal test for all products.
Questions about this guide
Which universal setting should I use?
There is no universal setting for all printers and papers. Use the model manual, media specifications and a limited permitted test.
Does thick-paper mode make a paper compatible?
No. It may adjust the model’s operation but does not raise published size, weight or thickness limits.
