At a glance
- Check permitted paper and inks first.
- A 100% plain-paper test avoids scaling errors.
- Validate one finished card before running the whole batch.
Prepare the equipment and file
Prepare an inkjet printer and its manual, suitable media, plain test sheets and a cutting tool. Use your own designs or artwork you are authorised to print, within the arrangement agreed with your play group.
Choose the final card size before laying out the sheet. A classic A4 3 × 3 grid can hold nine 63 × 88 mm cards; bleed, margins or machine registration marks can reduce this capacity. Keep the actual count shown by the builder.
Seven steps for the first sheet
Validate in this order to catch errors before they consume several sheets. Correct feeding is not enough: also check size, drying and cutting.
Avoid common sources of waste
Do not load a whole pack when the path calls for one sheet. Do not change scale, media type and orientation together: you would lose track of what changed the result.
Measure double-sided misalignment before cutting. If the paper jams or ink stays tacky, stop the batch and use the relevant diagnosis rather than consuming more sheets. Record settings that produce a usable result.

Questions about this guide
How many sheets for 60 cards?
At nine cards per sheet, you need at least seven sheets, plus tests and waste. A marked template can have a different capacity: calculate from its actual count.
Do I need a special printer?
You need a model whose manual covers the paper size, thickness and inks. An arbitrary inkjet printer is not automatically suitable for cardstock.

Manufacturer limits apply to the media and feed paths stated in each document. A documentary match is not a physical test of our cardstock.
