At a glance
- The manual feed and top tray have different limits.
- The cited Canon documents give different weight figures.
- Dye inks do not override a mechanical limit.
Compare media with the exact path
The PRO-200 can use a top tray or a manual feed. For thick media, read the latter’s specifications and instructions; its thickness range does not apply to the top tray.
The printer’s maximum size allows an A3 layout when the sheet, document and path are permitted. Available size does not remove the need to check media thickness.
Keep both published limits visible
The cited Canon specification sheet and knowledge-base article do not give the same upper weight for the manual feed. The comparison must retain both sources and use the cautious value when they differ.
A paper between these values is not confirmed by choosing the more favourable number. Keep the conflict visible and do not confuse a Canon-paper specification with a third-party cardstock test.
Check inks and drying
The PRO-200 uses ChromaLife100+ dye inks. This type matches dye-only coatings, but driver settings, ink coverage and drying still need validation on the actual sheet. Do not choose a third-party-paper ICC profile simply because its name sounds similar.
- Compare thickness and weight limits for the selected path.
- Check size and print a reference at 100%.
- Load one sheet using Canon’s procedure and inspect the dry result.
- Keep a settings record to compare subsequent tests.

Nominal supplier values, not an in-house print test. Prices and stock are checked on the product page. Where a value is missing, no compatibility is inferred.

Documented feed paths
Ink system: dye-based photo inks.
Manual feed, one sheet
Canon Europe lists about 380 gsm for Canon paper and 0.1–0.6 mm. Another Canon document lists 350 gsm, so this comparison retains the cautious limit. Neither figure guarantees third-party media.
Questions about this guide
Can I keep only the higher maximum?
No. Both documents and their context must remain visible. A discrepancy is an uncertainty, not a validation.
Does the top tray accept everything the manual feed does?
Not necessarily. Compare each media with the row for the actual path and follow the corresponding loading instructions.

Manufacturer limits apply to the media and feed paths stated in each document. A documentary match is not a physical test of our cardstock.
